Had two game scheduled back-to-back in waaaay North Jersey (almost Canada!).
First my 9U Team played their second game of the season. We scrimmaged a team from up yonder Friday night and lost. I don't mind losing, but I do mind not focusing and doing what's expected. Sunday was a different story. We went down 7-0 after three innings and it couldn't be bleaker. I knew the other team was going to try to mercy us. So I told the boys to play hard and make the plays in the field. When we got up I told them I needed baserunners, not heroes. Long story short - we won 8-7! Nice. And my kid (who has struggled a little) got the game-winning RBI.
At 4PM, my 11U Team came up to the great white north on NJ to play. The final was 2-1, them. But we played a fantastic baseball game (on both sides). I can't be upset. The other team made 4 spectacular defensive plays that basically saved the game for them. And my older guy pitched 1 2/3 in shutout relief to keep us close, but we fell just short. Can't wait for the second game later this season.
