Just so you know I am a true renaissance man when it comes to coaching youth sports, basketball season is almost upon us. Unlike Baseball, I take it easy and only coach two teams - but once January crests the rise in the calendar, baseball workouts for the travel teams begin. So basically from December - August I am busy eight days a week.
Basketball is a great sport, but I can no longer watch the pros - too much thuggery (imagine that from me!) and when the NBA went on strike a number of years ago, the comments from these pampered stars was enough to get me to just say no. And I have for the last ten years or so. But now my oldest is becoming a fan, so I guess that may change, however much I resist.
So the funny thing about youth basketball? The fact that nobody wants to coach (except the same 7-8 guys that coach everything), but everybody likes to yell out when a 9 year old 'travels' or 'walks' or 'fouls'. HAHAHAHA. You make me laugh.
And laugh I will.
By the way, tonight is the penultimate episode of The Shield. Quality always seems to come to an end in TV world. My prediction: Vic Mackey will be named to Barack Obama's cabinet - count on it.
