Empty Seats

In the Bronx. At Yankee Stadium. During a playoff game. Bad.

The seats that Yankee executive management designated for the haves, versus, you the have-not; the seats that are (less than half) filled with people who look like they would be more at home at MOMA or The Met were missing the peeps, the true fan. A lot of NYC's Finest though patrolling the moat. Shameful.

And if I have to look at Ms. Kate Hudson throughout the post-season, I'm gonna puke. BTW, she's a two-face. She had on the good face last night.

Winter Coming in the House of Slam

I know because I covered my beautiful oasis in the backyard, my 27ft, above-ground swimming pool. I am one of those that must get every hour out of the pool, hence my OCD-induced need to open in early April and close in October. That makes it near six months of sparkling wonderment.

The problem is this: it gets might cool here late in September, unless we get an Indian Summer. So the water temperature falls to the 50's or so. And to close the pool, I've got to get in. And that is something I do not look forward to. Shrinkage indeed!

But now it's covered and lying dormant until next Spring.

New endeavor in the sports household of SoulSlam. My oldest boy is now going to play travel hoops. We've been involved in travel baseball for three years, and now he will be on the hardcourt. I will be an assistant coach. Should be fun.

The Nightmare Continues

Came home from work, put on the Mets game (4:30 start in DC) and watched as they did everything they could to give the game to the Nats. Which they did. K-Rod gave up a two out Grand Salami after walking three in the innings for another loss. My sincere praise to Justin Maxwell, the kid who hit it.

So three games to go - with the record currently at 67-62. So we can't lose a hundy.

I know, injuries, etc. BS. Time to shake up the front office and the team's coaching staff. The bunch of slugs they run out on that field day-in, day-out, particularly after the rosters expanded is shameful, and largely apparent there is nothing in the minors worth looking at. Blow it up.

Sunday Unwind

Raining, and a full day at the local festival yesterday has got me dragging. Since it is a hebrew holiday here and around the world, apparently every sport known to man is on at 1:00PM EDT. So I can keep clicking and flipping...or type.

Now I am not an anti-anybody, don't get me wrong. Except for stupidity, can't abide that. I read in the local paper today that a councilman in and around the area (who is Jewish), had some pointed things to say about a town-wide yard sale held on Yom Kippur. How it was "insensitive". As far as I know the town this happened in is not:
1. Predominately Jewish
2. Closed-minded

Based on his comment, the country of Israel should shut down on Christmas Day. Oh, and by the way, he apparently didn't say anything before the weekend in question.
