Let's start with Red Sox @ Yankees. The greatest rivalry in baseball, and the Sox drew first blood last night with a 7-0 Jon Lester complete game. Reports in the papers are that Joe G. had a loud, closed-door meeting after the game. NOT HAPPY!
Maybe they were asking A-Rod about Madonna. THE OTHER BIG YANKEE STORY IN TOWN!
As for the Good Guys - the Mets travel to the City of Brotherly Love for a series with the NL East leading Phillies. Mets are a game under .500, but only 4.5 games out of first, which is Amazin' considering how mediocre they have been through the first half of the season. Now they try to get some revenge for the drubbing the Phils gave them last year. It certainly would take the sting out of the recent past!
And just so we appear fair towards our AL compadres, here's THE BIG MET STORY IN TOWN!
Listening to R. Neer on the FAN this morning, he made some very good points about Mr. Hernandez not exactly being a Boy Scout when he played baseball. But Keith gets a pass from most Mets fans. Funny how a WS win does that!

The Great Indoors
Let me tell you - if you ever get a chance to hit Great Wolf Lodge with the kids, do it. We've been there about five times, and the kids always have a great time.
This time we took some of my oldest's friends - it was his 10th birthday, so we brought a bunch of goofballs (that's what I call them, I can because I am their coach) to the park for his present. Great time had by all.

Five Innings...
...played exceptionally well. Unfortunately we play six. And that sixth inning was a doozie.
So we played our 4th game of summer season tonight. Before the game our record was 1-2, but we could just as easily be 2-1 with a lucky break or a couple of strikes.
Played a team we match up pretty well against. And played 5 innings of baseball really well. At the end of 5 it was 3-1 them. Then we put in my hardest throwing pitcher for one. He's usually pretty reliable on the mound, can be a little wild. Nolan Ryan wild. Throws super hard, and will usually send one towards you during an at-bat. If he ever learns to use his wildness and throwing ability to his benefit, he's a machine. Anyway, he had a rough one and I pulled him. he had given up seven runs to about 9 batters, so i didn't think it was going to get better. End the inning down 11 runs. We score 2 in the bottom 6 to make it 12-3. Rough.
I'll leave you with this - "there's no crying in baseball".

SS2 Update #3
So a split in the final two games of the weekend - Yankees win on Saturday afternoon and Mets win behind the enigma, O. Perez on Sunday.
After two blowouts on Friday - we have two close ones to end the series. One thing - the Mets are so un-clutch right now you wonder if they can ever get out of their own way.

SS2 Update #2
LOP-SIDED - Two ways!
Now we play on at 3:55PM on Fox - Pettite vs. Santana. After the outing Santana had this week (giving up a Grand Salami to a pitcher!) - he's due to come through. Maybe we'll see Ryan Church as well. But since they've bungled that situation from the very beginning, it's hard to believe we can do it right this time.
In bringing baseball to the world news - my company recently hosted some folks from our sales companies around the world. A colleague from Down Under made the trip with his wife and wanted to take in a ballgame. Pulled some strings, got him 
phenomenal seats and he took the pic of Mr. Beltran. After he arrived back in the land of INXS (I'd have used AC/DC but I thinks some of those cats are from elsewhere) - he told me what a fantastic time he had and that he couldn't think of anything more American to do. Another convert!

SS2 Update #1
Mets laid a beating on the Yankees in the first game today. Score of 15-6! But at 10PM in NY, it's Yankees 5-0 in the 6th inning. Need some runs here fellas!
Subway Series 2!
Underway - one game today in The Bronx at the House that Ruth Built, and then three games beginning tonight at that shining monolith of Blue and Orange in Queens. Four games. NYC bragging rights (at least for the fans).
Will try to get on with some comments during the weekend. Right now it's Mets up 1-0 bottom of the first.
Summer Travel Season has begun! My 9U team is 1-1, should be 2-0. How's these stats:
In two games we have hit 25 hits (4 for doubles) - and I don't count E's and FC's as hits. We have scored 23 Runs. Nice
Our pitching however has walked 33 young individuals and hit another 5. The opposing teams have scored about 4 runs off us on a hit! I like to think of this as an opportunity to improve!
Game tonight - hope we can throw some strikes. I'll let you know.
